Overseas Travel & Personal Security (OTAPS)
Operate safely, think critically and respond decisively.
Course Overview
Most travel security courses still teach a version of Cold War survival: predictable drills, outdated threat models, and one-size-fits-all guidance. CDEC’s Overseas Travel & Personal Security (OTAPS) programme is entirely different. Built from years of global field deployments across corporate, intelligence and high-risk environments, this training is designed for how the world works now — networked, data-driven, and fast-moving.
Participants learn to prepare, move, and communicate safely across regions with varying legal, digital, and physical risk profiles. The course blends threat forecasting, situational awareness, emergency response, and digital hygiene to give travellers and security teams complete confidence in unfamiliar environments.
OTAPS isn’t about memorising checklists — it’s about mastering decision-making when things go wrong.
What You’ll Learn

Responding to surveillance, detention or medical incidents abroad
Protecting personal data and digital footprint while overseas
Behavioural and cultural awareness to blend, not broadcast
Crisis management and evacuation coordination
Why It’s Different
CDEC’s OTAPS course is built from real deployments, not recycled slides. Our instructors have operated across multiple continents — from stable corporate hubs to complex, high-threat regions — teaching methods that have been stress-tested in live incidents. We train people to think, adapt and act under pressure, blending intelligence tradecraft, travel security and crisis psychology into one coherent discipline.
You won’t find role-players with fake AKs here. You’ll find professionals teaching real-world readiness.
